Dinner 6: Cauliflower Soup and Mozzarella Stuff

Hello Blog Followers!
The Thursday of Feb. 10 was another spectacular meal!  It was Giggles’ week to choose a recipe and she broke away from the walls of VegWeb and experimented with some new and different kinds of recipes.  Hopefully Giggles can explain her reasons and the new eating style she’s discovered either here or in her reflection.  Explain yourself Giggles, hehe.  The recipes she chose are:
Birdman’s Reflections
I always enjoy soup and salad!  Soup is so warm and soothing and salad is so natural and healthy.  The cauliflower soup was very easy to make and required very little ingredients, but had a big taste.  At the end of cooking it, the directions call for putting it in a blender, so it turns out very smooth.  I really liked the addition of rolled oats in the soup.  I’ve never seen that done before, but I thought it was a nice addition.  I’m really not a big fan of cauliflower, so for me it wasn’t the greatest tasting.  But even for someone who doesn’t like cauliflower, this soup didn’t taste too bad.  I’ve also become more of a fan of chunky soups.  But I would still give it a 4/5.
The stuffed mozzarella … I said salad above, didn’t I, hehe.  Well that’s because I couldn’t figure out how to make it based on the directions provided.  So I just took all the ingredients and turned it into a salad.  And it was really good!  Remember, I usually don’t care much for salads.  But this was great with the mozzarella cheese and peppers and spinach.  I actually just had spinach and skipped the mixed greens.  Also, it calls for roasted red peppers from a jar.  I wasn’t quite sure what they were referring to, so I just cut up a red bell pepper.  The salad also gets a 4/5.  I think it could have been better with a little more “stuff” and maybe a creative homemade dressing.
For this meal I watched the City of God, which is another movie I had actually never heard of for some reason.  It came out in 2003 and is rated as #1 on the 50 best movies of the decade website.  The City of God was also a really good movie, though much different than Amelie.  It’s a drama, crime movie that follows the lives of a few people growing up in a city with gangs and drug lords.  There’s some good characterization and plotlines presented in this movie and it’s definitely worth a watch.  I don’t think I would rate it as the best movie of the decade, since I thought Gran Torino and Slumdog Millionaire were much better in that type of genre, but it’s still a quality film.
