Dinner 8: Lickety Split Burger Hash!

Hello Readers of this Blog Realm!

I love the word ‘realm.’  It makes me think of Lord of the Rings and adventure!  I always think of hiking the LOTR trail when school starts getting busy.  Anyway, this is Birdman and I’m flying solo for my adventure in the kitchen this week.  Giggles is crazy busy with school right now.

So for this week I decided to go with our favorite meal, which we’ve both made a couple of times together in the past.  That meal would be Lickety Split Burger Hash from Giggles’ Student Go Vegan cookbook.  Woohooo!!  If you’re going to try making anything from this blog, make this!  This is why I went with it; you all deserve to know this wonderfully delicious, easy, and healthy recipe J

Reflection of the cleanse!

Key lessons learned by Giggles:

1. You don't need as much food as you think you do

2. Its important to be surrounded by friends that are a good influence and support you in your crazy ideas:)

3. Cooking is magical

4. your body knows when its full.. its just your job to be a good listener and follow its cue

5. livers are awesome!!! (yes I had to do a presentation on live donor liver transplantation and regeneration so if you have any questions relating to the largest gland in the body then let me know:))

6. don't be so worried about finishing your plate...it will either be waste in the garbage or go to waste in your body... your choice... overindulging can cause a loss of homeostasis in the body because the liver can't handle all that. Not enough bile can be secreted to emulsify the fats and its harder for the liver to store all those carbs at once.

7. Ketchup can go with EVERYTHING:)

8. When you eat food the ATP generated from that has two options:
a. energy
b. biosynthesis of cellular components ..this is the one we worry about... darn you fat storages!!!

9. Fruit is the best night time snack!

10. You don't need sweets... the more you eat the more you need and its just a terrible addictive relationship...my mom has recently given me a tea called St. John's Wort Blues Away. This tea is said to promote emotional balance and because of its sweet flavor it has helping my mom and I with our sweet/junk food cravings!

Peace and Love,

Giggles:)

Greetings from Birdman

Hey!!  This is Birdman!  I really do exist, hehe.  I’ve been busy lately … but that’s no excuse.  I used to think that I’d do all these things I want to do in life when I’m not so busy.  But life is always busy.  And it doesn’t make sense to wait for a period when you have time, because it won’t come.  Ultimately, you just have to make time for whatever you feel you need most in your life.  And right now, I feel like I need to blog …

Cleanse: Day 4

Day 4.... an exciting day for two people deprived of all carbohydrates for 3 days. Today Birdman and I decided that it was time to add in the grains and seeds with our array of fruits and veggies of course.

For breakfast I had the usually fruit! This just always makes me feel good about myself!

Cleanse: Day 2

So today is the second day of this fiasco.... oh giddy! This morning I was feeling pretty normal... although I must say I was almost sad. I wasn't sure if it was the dreary weather, everyday drama in my soup opera of a life or if it was lack of carbohydrates...

Cleanse Day 1

Experience by Giggles....

The first day of any cleanse is always the easiest. You still have some carbohydrates in your body and you don't have to go through gluconeogenesis quite yet.. haha (microbiology terminology). Basically its when you get glucose from other sources besides carbohydrates. The secret to survival is potatoes... sweet potatoes... white potatoes.. couch potatoes... oh wait lol not that.
