Dear Grandpa, I won't let you down

Dear Grandpa,

You are loved, you are missed, but part of you will always live on through us. Always happy and sweet, either giggling, smiling, trying to help dad out, watching lawrence Welk with my brother Paul,  following Grandma around, kicking our butts in wii bowling and cornhole or taking a snooze on the couch. These are the things that come to mind now at least.
But as the years passed I didn’t realize how much you really have been there. I looked through all the pictures and saw you with my mom as a baby, my brother and myself as a baby. I saw you as we grew up…swimming with me, coloring easter eggs, fishing, and celebrating many milestones in all of our lives. You have been a wonderful father, brother, husband, grandfather, and friend to us all.
You have been a guardian angel to me Grandpa. You have been a role-model and an inspiration. Because of you I know how to live life with a sense of humor and a constant smile on my face. Nothing put you down Grandpa...unless you saw pasta or veggies on your plate.
Because of you Grandpa I believe in true love and I think many people can say that too. The relationship you have with Grandma is one that touches my heart and gives me hope. You worked as a team were married for 53 happy years. You would do anything for eachother which shown true when this past weekend you thanked Grandma for all her hard work even when you could barley speak anymore. The genuine love you have shown through those words and through the years can be felt by all. I can still feel it Grandpa and always will.

I'm sure you'll be around...taking care of us and being so helpful like you've always tried to be. I love you Grandpa. I won’t let you down.
Those are the words I said at his funeral.
Since I've been single I've come up with a list of things I want to do. In honor of Grandpa I will live out my list...let him always be an inspiration to us all.

2). Continue on my low-carb diet (it makes me feel great)
